WALK IN THE EXOTIC GARDEN IN THE HEIGHTS OF LA ROQUE-GAGEAC

It is said that there is a microclimate in the heart of the village of La Roque-Gageac. So much so that this incredible softness allowed the development of an exotic garden. The different plant essences have scents from elsewhere. In the alley of bananas, Margot has fun counting them, not so easy! In fact 150 exotic plants are planted here and Roque Gageac is nicknamed "Petit Nice du Périgord".

In a tropical atmosphere, it is very pleasant to stroll in the narrow streets of the village, and to discover the traditional houses of the Périgord Noir. At the church level, the view over the entire Dordogne Valley is superb!

VISIT THE FORT TROGLODYTE DE LA ROQUE-GAGEAC

Nestled in the cliff since the 12th century, the troglodyte fort of La Roque-Gageac resisted invasions for a long time until its natural vault collapsed. So when it reopens, it seems to have risen from the dead. In this village in the Périgord Noir, you have to climb the 140 golden steps of the staircase to understand its history.

In a sound atmosphere, texts are staged to pay homage to the villagers of Roque Gageac. Since the Middle Ages, it is they who have written history. Margot slaloms through the columns supporting the building to the orientation table. Here too we are making a good timing.

In the heart of the Périgord Noir, the fort of La Roque-Gageac and its houses nestle against the cliff. From there, we made ourselves very small, so impressed the panoramic view is spectacular on the Dordogne. Margot with the long view, does not miss a beat!

WHERE AND HOW TO VISIT FORT DE LA ROQUE-GAGEAC IN THE PÉRIGORD NOIR?

On the heights of the fortress of the village, you will have an unforgettable view of the Valley of the 5 castles (that already makes you dizzy, isn't it?). It is here that you can admire the slate roofs of the typical Périgord Noir houses. At the end of the day, there is a fairly unique light when warm colors envelop the horizon: it's magic!

Then, the best way to discover the village of Beynac-et-Cazenac is to walk at random as you wish! Coming down from the castle, we discover the cobbled streets winding endlessly and the blond facades crumbling under the weight of the flowers giving a very romantic atmosphere. During your walk, you will discover that the medieval village is made up of several districts depending on the activities of the villagers.
